Speech-language therapy, also known as speech therapy or speech pathology, helps adults and children maximize their ability to understand spoken words, express their thoughts and ideas, and use language socially. Speech pathology also deals with the mechanics of producing words, such as articulation, pitch, fluency, and volume, and safely eating, and swallowing foods.
Adults may need speech therapy after a stroke or traumatic accident that changes their ability to communicate. For children, it generally involves pursuing milestones that have been delayed. Treatment may only be needed for one area of speech and language, or it may be needed in several areas. At Ridge Zeller Therapy, our focus is on early identification, diagnosis, consultation, and treatment.
Who Will Be Your Speech-Language Pathologist?
The professional in charge of each individual’s speech-language therapy program is known as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP). The SLP will work with each individual to design a program that meets the unique needs of that person. Meaningful activities will be developed to make therapy interesting and effective in meeting goals.Meet the RZT team of speech pathologists in Arizona
